PS 3500 link rate issuse

Postby nageshlabde on Tue Jun 29, 2010 9:35 pm

Dear All,

Thanks in advance,

i had 2 location 1= Mumbai, 2= Hazira
all in MPLS network

on Mumbai inbound link rate=45M outbound link rate=45M
on Hazira inbound link rate=62M outbound link rate=28M

license is already there for compression and acceleration.

2.5k users are there in Hazira, internet access is allow from mumbai.

on basis of above info i have some question as mentioned below.

Q1. when i creat tunnel in between Hazira and mumbai some time users have to refresh there IE to open the page?

Q2. 20Mbps compression is possible on 3500, how we can measure the performance on router prospective? client think if PS 3500 compress, decompress & accelerate, but we can't see it on router. question is how to measure the performance on router ?

Q3. if i configure 62M for Inbound then will packetshpaer 3500 shape the traffic for 62M or 45M?

Note: what i feel is PS 3500 has the limit for 45M as per license, but PS had allow for 62M for inbound rate & 28M for outbound rate, even if it allow to configure question is who it works?

Thanks & Regards,

Hi Nagesh

Regarding Q1:
Should not happen. Check if the hosts are discovered correctly on each side of the Shaper. Which tunnel type are you using. Even if the Host is not properly discovered and probes need to be sent, the traffic from the browsers should still go through. You can best open an Service Request with BC for this.

Regarding Q2:
Why measure on the router when you have a PacketShaper that tells you the compressed rate ??

Regarding Q3:
The recent PacketWise versions (8.4 and up) allow asymmetric licenses. So 61+28 and 45+45 for a PS3500. If one is configured for 62 in and the one on the other side for 45M out, then you get 45M max throughput.

Norbert.

PS: More details like version and setup are usually helpful
