Thank you for the information. This helped a great deal. I replaced my null-modem cable with a new one and immediately was able to access my PacketShaper 2000. The unit was not recognizing the router and gateway addresses. Being new to using the PacketShaper 2000, I did not realize that a simple solution was to move the 2000 behind my firewall/router, not before the firewall/router. I reset all the settings in the 2000, and reboot my Cable modem, firewall/router, managed switch and released and renewed my internet lease, and bingo! everything worked!
For those who may run across a similar problem, my network applicances and pc/servers are as follows:
Cable modem to SonicWall Firewall/Router to PackeShaper 2000 to Dell PowerConnect 3024 Managed Switch to WorkStations and Servers. After setup, release and renew your Internet Leases. Ping or use a utility like IP-Tools to check your network connectivity.
Again, Thank you rhill100.
